Kristen came to us with an impressive background in biomedical research and then some solid field time, including working in Panama with Dr. Emily DuVal studying Lance-tailed Manakins. Her doctoral work tackles questions regarding links between mating behavior and migration and the behavioral and evolutionary consequences of rain in three species of manakins (White-ruffed, White-collared, and Golden-collared) in Costa Rica and Panama. She is also testing ideas about the development and performance of complex displays using high-speed video data.
